Well I think the title sums it up pretty well. It has been almost 5 months since our last posting and so much has happened! We will try to get everyone caught up as much as possible. Tyler found out that he would be learning to fly the latest variant of the Blackhawk (the Mike model) and that we would end up being here for a month longer than originally planned since the new variant requires extra training. Tyler started training in the Blackhawk at the beginning of March. He has loved getting to fly such an amazing aircraft, but the training is very intense (tons of studying and flight planning) and time consuming. During the 3 week Basic Combat Skills phase (learning to fly tactically) he was usually gone from 4:30 a.m. to 7:30 or 8:00 P.M. either at the flight line or planning his flights. After coming home and grabbing some dinner it was usually studying until going to bed at about 10:00 or 10:30 and then starting again the next day. Luckily his schedule has slowed down somewhat since. He got to fly the older model blackhawk for the first 10 weeks and is now flying the Mike model. He has taken two check rides in the Mike model and only has 1 more left. This coming Friday he begins his final phase of training, Nights. His schedule will change from work beginning at 4:45 A.M. to work beginning at 5:00 P.M. It will be interesting to see how the schedule change affects us.

Shanonn is no longer working at the school since the school year is up. After a couple of days break she was right back to work, babysitting twin 10 year old girls for the summer. She usually works from 8:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. The girls keep her busy as she tries to find ways to keep them from getting bored. Kahlua had a vet appointment this last week and we learned that she has lost almost 16 pounds in the last year. She now weighs about 30 lbs. It's hard to believe she has lost 1/3 of her weight. She is feeling more energetic than ever and would like any available bachelor dogs out there to know that she is available these days.

In other news, we have a tentative graduation date of August 9th, which means we will most likely be in Oklahoma by mid August. The Oklahoma Guard hasn't told us yet which unit Tyler will be in. The possibilities will be either in Tulsa or Lexington. If we get Lexington, we will definitely be living on Oklahoma City. If we get the Tulsa unit, we haven't decided yet if we will live in Oklahoma City and Tyler will commute to fly or if we would move to Tulsa. This has made looking for a place to live very difficult, so please pray that we find out soon which unit we will get!

We have had a great time watching the Thunder in the playoffs this year. Seeing all the shots of Downtown OKC make us really miss it and very ready to move back. Their are a couple of Oklahoma Guard guys that live down the street from us so we've been keeping up with the Thunder and representing them from Alabama together. We really hope they win the Championship and that we get to go to some games next year!

Tyler was able to make a quick weekend trip to see his sister graduate from college in early May. It was great to see the family again and our nephew Brady is now learning to say "Ty" for Uncle Tyler and "Shan" for Aunt Shanonn. He has "Ty" down pretty well but is currently pronouncing "Shan" as "Shish" (also what he calls Tyler's parents Goldfish) so perhaps he will get it down by the next time we see him. Tyler's parents came down to visit for Memorial day and we enjoyed a trip to Pensacola to go to the Naval Aviation Museum and the Beach. We drove along the coast on the way back and the views were beautiful. We will definitely miss being close to the beach. We also got to make a day trip to Montgomery to eat barbecue and go shopping. Tyler's parents are planning on coming to graduation so we are excited for that!

Well I think that's a pretty good synopsis on the last few months in Alabama. We are excited to enter our last month of flight school and counting down the days till we get to move back. We miss everyone and can't wait to see you all again! You are in our prayers and we hope everyone is having a great start to the summer!
This will teach him how to fly like an Army Aviator in different situations. It's a four week course, then when that is through it will be onto the Blackhawk course! It's strange to think that our time has gone by so quickly and we are over half-way through our time in Alabama. It's a great feeling to know that soon we will be back in Oklahoma with our church family though! We definitely miss everyone there. Then Shanonn will only be a few hours from her family, who she has missed being around, especially the past couple months.
Other than the class change, everything is pretty much the same around here! We hosted a party for the military members at our church on Saturday, which turned out to be really fun (and delicious!). Hope all of you have been doing well!Tyler and Shanonn Sharpehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00924491173515191720noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4317296644096965360.post-20549235940563961962012-01-08T19:32:00.000-06:002012-01-08T19:32:03.593-06:00Update on Ed-Great news! Ed is finally home from the hospital, as of this afternoon. He had a bit of a small setback a few days ago, but is doing wonderfully now. His heart wasn't catching a normal rhythm and the external pacemaker he had (standard after heart surgery) was doing more work than they were hoping, so he had to have an internal pacemaker put in. This wasn't something that they were planning on doing, but it's something that the doctors felt was necessary.
The important thing is that he is home now! Please continue to keep him (and my mom) in your thoughts as he continues to heal and rely on my mom for support.Tyler and Shanonn Sharpehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00924491173515191720noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4317296644096965360.post-57117051823833297242012-01-04T21:19:00.000-06:002012-01-04T21:19:40.667-06:00Update from Shanonn-Hello loved ones!! Now that we've managed to miss all the major holidays, it's probably time for an update on us. We've definitely been very busy, but most of that has been due to travel, rather than changes in our schedules and lives.
November- The beginning of November, for the most part, was pretty calm for us. Tyler's schedule started to change more frequently, but he was still doing the same things, just at different hours. He is in the simulators right now, learning how to fly by his instruments (for flying in clouds, at night, etc.) instead of being able to simply see. For Thanksgiving, Lyle, Ethelyn (Tyler's parents), Mary K. (Tyler's sister), Josh (Mary K.'s boyfriend) and Brady (the nephew!) all came to stay with us for 5 days. We ended up going to Cracker Barrel for Thanksgiving day lunch, saw The Muppets' movie (so cute!) and ate out again that night. We ate out a lot... haha. The next day (Friday), everyone except Ethelyn and Brady went deep sea fishing. Mary K. and myself didn't have the best time, but the boys loved it and we did come home with some fish! The rest of the month rushed by, and I started to work full-time in the 2 year-old room, plus working after-care 3 times a week. Thank goodness that Christmas break has taken 2 weeks out of that schedule- haha! I actually like the new schedule better than my regular 12:30-5:30 shift because time seems to go by more quickly and I feel like I get more done.
December- This was one of the hardest times in my life. On December 5, 2011, I lost one of the greatest influences and important people in my life: my grandpa Johnie. He had been sick for a while and in pain, so this was a good thing, yet my heart is still broken thinking about what a wonderful father, grandfather and husband he was. He taught 3 daughters, 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren how to love with all of their hearts, laugh at the funny things and to not take anything too seriously. He will, truly, be missed. I got to go home to see my family for several days, so that was wonderful since this was Tyler's family's year to have us, but it was definitely bitter-sweet because of the occasion.
The rest of the month (at least the 18-Jan.1) was spent at the Sharpes' in Wyoming. Merry Christmas! We had a great time being with his family and taking some time off from work and school, while also having an amazing Christmas. We are spoiled for sure!
January- Happy New Year! The beginning to 2012 was a bit of a rough start for us. Our flight from Denver to Charlotte was delayed by 2 hours. Not only was it delayed, but we were sitting on the plane, at the gate, with the cabin door shut, for two hours. After we finally took off, we discovered that we missed our connection to Atlanta, but luckily they had placed us on a new flight, a little later, so we had time to eat dinner. The flight to Atlanta was nice, we had to wait a bit on our bags to arrive, but we walked away with all our luggage! There was also a man being arrested and escorted out by 3 security/police officers, so that added to our happiness. We made it to the hotel just fine, thanks for our shuttle, but the joy of finally ending our travel for the day ended when we talked to the desk clerk. She told us that some kids had tried to steal our truck while we were gone. Luckily they were scared off before they could finish the job and do too much damage. They did manage to pry part of the steering column off and detach our key cylinder, so we were stuck at the hotel until a locksmith could come out the next morning. Several hours (and some money) later, about noon, we were able to leave to drive back to For Rucker. We made it safely, picked up the dog, unpacked, then it was time to rest and get to bed for work and class the next day. Work and class have gone well for us this week, Tyler starts a new schedule tomorrow and will be back to flying a real helicopter again. (Finally!) I go back to my old schedule starting Monday, so it will be back to the late nights once again.
That's all our news for now- hope everyone is doing well and had a great start to their new year!
We love you all!
P.S.- Please keep my dad, Ed Elsass, in your thoughts. He had minor surgery done on his heart (Jan. 3), but has had a few, minor, complications along the way. Though it was a fairly simply procedure, it was still heart surgery and he has a long recovery ahead of him. He's doing very well, but is still under close supervision to ensure a proper recovery. Everything is looking good so far, so keep up the wishful thinking. Thank you!Tyler and Shanonn Sharpehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00924491173515191720noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4317296644096965360.post-33130524036076329982011-10-30T21:23:00.001-05:002011-10-30T21:23:49.468-05:00Sorry Friends...We're still here!
Sorry that we haven't updated for quite some time. It seems like not enough happens to update every week, but then a lot of small things add up and we're behind! We'll start a few weeks back, then work toward today.
Shanonn went home the week of the 10-15 and spent some time with family and had a relaxing week off from work. That Friday, she ventured down to OKC to visit Vanessa and finally meet baby Denver and also to see Erin. She had a really great time getting to catch up with them and see them after several months. Sometime during the week that Shanonn was gone, Tyler took his first check-flight and did really well! His second one should be happening in the near-future.
The next Friday (the 21st) Tyler had his Family Day, so Shanonn got to see him fly his training helicopter. It was a fun day, but it wasn't without it's problems. Tyler was supposed to be out at the stage field about 1 o'clock, but didn't end up getting there until almost 3 because his first helicopter had a maintenance issue and they ended up having to get an entirely new aircraft. Shanonn had waited for Tyler to show up to eat lunch, so she was very hungry by the time he got there! It was a good day and we both got to meet and talk to flight students and their wives that we hadn't met before. Just when the day was scheduled to be over, Tyler landed the helicopter in a smaller landing area and shut it down, so that his stick-buddy and his wife could take pictures with it and meet the IP that flies with them everyday. It was simply an interesting moment.
The weather here is still very nice, a little cool this weekend, but nothing compared to what the rest of you have been experiencing, it seems! Tyler is still doing really well in school and has found some good friends to study with, while Shanonn is still working and will start subbing full-time in just a few weeks. On Monday, Tyler should be completing his first cross-country flight to Albany, Georgia, then back. Hopefully, that's all the exciting news we have for now! We will try to be better about updating.
Hope everyone is doing well! Thanks for checking in on us and feel free to call or e-mail us!Tyler and Shanonn Sharpehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00924491173515191720noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4317296644096965360.post-47604690114982768252011-09-18T21:51:00.001-05:002011-09-20T22:23:11.484-05:00Long Overdue UpdateHello to everyone!
It's been awhile since we've updated our blog and lots has happened since! Tyler graduated from SERE school and came back hungry and 10 lbs lighter. After a few days off he was back into class. He started Aeromedical training (medical factors affecting aviation) and then started his helicopter systems classes, learning all about the training helicopter's various systems and how they work. He had his first flight on Friday and had a blast, but realizes that flying helicopters is extremely tough. Tyler was on morning flight line last week so he had to be at the bus stop at about 4:15 AM to catch the bus to the airfield and got out of his academic classes at about 4:00 P.M. This week he will be on afternoons so will go to academics in the morning, then to the flightline in the afternoon, and get home at about 6:00 P.M. He has been studying lots and has done well on his tests so far. Shanonn has been staying busy working and taking care of the house. We took a trip to Atlanta for Labor day and got to see the World of Coke and went on the Inside the Studios Tour at the CNN studio. We also got to make a trip to Ikea and purchased a new bed frame. This past weekend we had dinner with a fellow flight student who is in Tyler's Guard unit and lives right down the street. Saturday we spent most of the day putting in a fence for Kahlua, so now she has room to roam and we can leave her outside for the day when we travel. The weather has been cooling off and we are looking forward to the fall weather fully setting in. We have stayed busy with all the new friends we have made here but miss all of our friends back in Oklahoma. Well, this was kind of a brief update but hopefully a longer one will soon follow!Tyler and Shanonn Sharpehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00924491173515191720noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4317296644096965360.post-12454587023952099692011-07-29T16:07:00.001-05:002011-07-29T16:09:57.734-05:00Big News!It Finally Happened!
Shanonn has found a job! It is though our church and will be mostly part-time, with the possibility of becoming full-time temporarily. One of the teachers (2 year old) is having a baby in November, so Shanonn will take over her shift for the 6+ weeks the teacher will be gone. Also, she will be working as a substitute whenever a teacher needs to take off work. So that is exciting for us!
Also, Tyler (finally) has a SERE date... for Monday! We got the good news yesterday, so he will at least have a few days to make sure he has everything purchased, packed, and ready to go. He will be gone for 3 weeks without any contact with anyone other than his classmates and and instructors, so it will be a challenge for both of us.
Other than those two major things, life has been pretty laid back and uneventful. We hope all of you have been doing well and we appreciate all of your love and support as we go through this phase in our lives!Tyler and Shanonn Sharpehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00924491173515191720noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4317296644096965360.post-69058318569228085252011-07-18T22:01:00.001-05:002011-07-19T10:52:30.984-05:00Rolling With The PunchesHello to All!
Well it has been an action packed few weeks since we have updated everyone. Tyler was supposed to go to survival school last week but had a hang up with his flight physical and they wouldn't let him go until it is sorted out. Turns out that he is a little too tall according to the Army's requirements and requires a special waiver to fly. He had to be measured in a helicopter to make sure he would fit (he does) and so now we are just waiting for the doctor to sign off on it and he will be back in training. The next class will start either August 1st or August 8th so he should be able to get into one of those. In the meantime he hasn't been doing much other than going to physical training, meeting for a couple of required "check ins" and studying. This week and next week he is helping out at a course for senior Army leaders and gets to sit in on some of the classes, an opportunity that he is excited about. Today a few officers from the Pentagon spoke, as well as the top general in Army Aviation, so he enjoyed that. This past weekend it rained almost the entire time, so we just ended up going to nearby Dothan, AL and shopping, as well as playing some card games with friends Saturday night. Tyler has been working on building a small apron hanger for Shanonn as well as a pen/pencil holder for his desk in his free time. Kahlua has been good but has been sad she hasn't been able to go to the Bark Park and has been going a little stir crazy. Tyler takes full-advantage of antagonizing her at every opportunity, which actually is funny. We're both doing well! Thanks for the recent phone calls to check on us- we miss you all!Tyler and Shanonn Sharpehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00924491173515191720noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4317296644096965360.post-49189170507445186812011-07-05T19:30:00.000-05:002011-07-05T19:30:16.694-05:00We May Not Have Had Fireworks But We Still Had FunHello Everyone

It's been a few weeks since our last posting and a lot has happened! Tyler finished up Basic Officer Leader Course just in time for the 4th of July weekend. He has been trying to build a bookshelf but progress has been slow since he hasn't had much time to work on it. We have hung out with our neighbors (Ben and Stacey) a few times and stayed up late playing cards and watching the dogs play. They have a 9 month old Weimeraner named Chloe that Kahlua has become friends with. They have gone to the Bark Park together a few times as well as hanging out around our house and our neighbors house. Tyler got to go to the flight-line and see all the helicopters up close. It's a good thing he will be flying Blackhawks since he is far too big for Kiowas and Apaches. Today he completed the Helicopter Overwater Survival Training course, where he learned how to escape a helicopter if it crashes into the water. It involved lots of getting flipped over in a cockpit simulator underwater and learning to breathe with a small air tank.
We got a four day weekend for the fourth of July and went to New Orleans. We got to see the French Quarter, Ninth Ward, Bourbon Street, Canal Street, the national WWII museum, and eat some beignets at Cafe Du Monde. Even though it was hot and packed everywhere we had a good time. On the way home we stopped in Mobile at the USS Alabama memorial and toured a WWII battleship, a submarine and lots of aircraft. Unfortunately we didn't see any fireworks for the 4th. Fort Rucker had theirs on Saturday and New Orleans were on Monday, so we just missed both. This week should be an easy one. Tyler is supposed to pretty much have the week off to prepare for his next training event SERE (survive evade, resist and escape) where he will learn to survive and avoid capture. He begins that on Monday and will have no contact with the outside world (including Shanonn) for 21 days so feel free to give Shanonn lot's of phone calls to keep her occupied. That is about all we have for now, we hope everyone had a good 4th of July weekend and we miss you all!Tyler and Shanonn Sharpehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00924491173515191720noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4317296644096965360.post-26225135882795728692011-06-15T13:51:00.002-05:002011-06-15T13:56:00.038-05:00Pictures!We finally have pictures!!
Sorry it has taken so long to get these up for you all- but we finally got our act together and took some pictures of the house for you all! They're not very good, but you'll get a general idea.
It has been a few days since our last posting. Last week Tyler had a busy week of studying and classes. He took two tests and is now done with his testing for this portion of his training. He has 3 more weeks of Basic Officer Leadership Course and then he will move on to the next block of training. This week is his "field week" although he'll be home every night. So far they have done a land navigation course and some classes on weapons and convoys. Tomorrow their class will convoy to and from the weapons range and qualify with their rifles. The next day they will be qualifying on pistols. Friday there is a change of command ceremony so that is throwing a hitch in the schedule, but it means a short day for everyone. Monday he will finish up field week with some more convoy exercises. Last weekend we stayed around the local area with a trip to Dothan, Al to shop and eat and hanging out with friends around Fort Rucker. Tyler was also able to finish his desk, so he now has a place to study. Shanonn has been looking for jobs and hanging out with new friends as well as taking care of the house. The house is finally looking in order, although some of the rooms are lacking in furniture since we have gone from 1 bedroom to 4. This weekend we plan on going back to Montgomery to see the Rosa Parks Civil Rights Museum and see the town for the day. It's looking like Tyler will get a four day weekend for the 4th of July so we might be going on a trip then. Kahlua is doing well and just got a new small rubber tire looking toy which she has been enjoying. I think that is about all that is new in our lives, hopefully we can get everyone an update after this weekend.Tyler and Shanonn Sharpehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00924491173515191720noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4317296644096965360.post-42688983165168090412011-06-05T21:38:00.003-05:002011-06-05T22:06:53.075-05:00Long weekendsHey Everyone!!
Sorry it's taken so long to get updated!! With all the little things we've been keeping up with, the blog ended up at the bottom of our list. No worries- we're back!! Things are still going really well. Tyler's schedule is mostly the same, with the exception of a few days of either getting out early or late. Shanonn has gotten the house set up and everything finally has it's own place (even if we don't know exactly where that place is!). We've been hanging out with 2 couples from church who are also going through flight school, so that has been a definite blessing for us! We had dinner and a game night Saturday night with them and that turned out to be lots of fun, for sure a night filled with laughs! Sunday has been pretty boring around the Sharpe household today- Tyler worked on building a desk, then Shanonn helped him paint it black. It's looking pretty good so far and Tyler is looking forward to finally having a place to study that isn't a workout bench.
Memorial Day weekend was good as well, Tyler was out of class Friday and Monday, so the extended weekend was nice. Friday we went to Montgomery, took a tour of the Rosa Parks children's wing, ate THE BEST ribs... EVER at Dreamland BBQ, then looked around the city at all the beautiful buildings and did some shopping. But, the big event for the day was getting our new washer and dryer!! They're wonderful and so much more convenient than going to the laundromat. They came mid-morning Friday and installed them, started a cycle, then we were off to Montgomery for the day! When we came home, we walked into a kitchen filled with about a quarter inch of water. The guys that installed the washer had cross-threaded the water to the actual washer, so it was shooting out water when we walked through the door. Thanks, guys. Saturday was spent in Destin, FL at the beach and driving around town. As great as it may sound, the beach was terrible. The water didn't look very clear and when we got in, there was seaweed, kelp and not very many waves to body-board on. The rest of the day was spent driving around Destin, looking for other beaches that might be better, but didn't seem to find any. Sunday we went to church, then to the Ellis' for dinner at their house and some fellowship. Monday was filled with errands and relaxing.
That's us for now! Now that the place is cleaned up, (hopefully for good) we should be taking and uploading pictures soon. Thanks for checking in!!
P.S.- Cara Melvin- I hope this gets e-mailed to you!! Let me know if it works.Tyler and Shanonn Sharpehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00924491173515191720noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4317296644096965360.post-88154039834619502492011-05-25T21:56:00.001-05:002011-06-05T21:41:11.746-05:00Settling InHello to all!
I'll just pick up right where we left off. Saturday we made the drive down to Panama City Beach, FL. We didn't exactly know the best way to get there so it took us a little longer than planned (about 2 hours) but we made it! We decided to go eat first and ate at Margaritaville and shared a plate of Mahi Mahi Fish Tacos. Tyler actually ate the fish and enjoyed it! (he doesn't ever eat seafood). After that we decided to hit the beach for a bit and Tyler did some body boarding while Shanonn jumped the waves. The ocean was extremely rough that day (red flags) so the adventure was somewhat short lived. Panama City Beach has a very nice Pier Park with lots of shopping and restaurants so we walked around that some and drove around the area before heading home. Sunday we attended our first church services since moving. The church here is smaller than we expected (around 100 members) but everyone was very friendly and it is predominately people who are retired military or work at Ft. Rucker (or are both). Sunday we also did laundry, which was a bit of a hassle since we don't have a washer and dryer yet and have to use a local laundromat. Monday and Tuesday were pretty much normal days. Tyler in class and Shanonn doing chores around the house and looking for employment. Tyler is currently learning how to identify different combat vehicles as well as some aviation and general military doctrine. Next week he has his first test so he is starting to devote some time to studying. He has also been building some shelves and straightening out his shed to create a little wood working shop. He'll post pictures when it's all done. Wednesday Tyler went to class while Shanonn painted some shelves for one of the rooms. We went to church again and met even more people, including another Lieutenant who is going to be about 2 weeks behind Tyler in school, so they should have a lot in common. This weekend is a four day weekend for us with Friday and Monday off. We plan on going to Montgomery to see the sights on Friday and to Destin, FL on Saturday to see the beach. Sunday and Monday we will try to get some stuff done around the house, including hopefully building Tyler a desk for studying. Well that's about all for us right now. Tomorrow is our Friday and then off to have some fun!Tyler and Shanonn Sharpehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00924491173515191720noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4317296644096965360.post-12795777878133456292011-05-20T17:23:00.001-05:002011-06-05T21:45:37.292-05:00Sweet Home Alabama!Hello Faithful Followers!-
So, not much has really happened since our last post, but we'll take that as a good thing! Tyler officially started class on Monday and has a pretty stable schedule: up at 5, PT from 6-7, home until 9, class until 11:30/12, back to class (again), then home around 4 or 5. It makes for a hectic day, but at least it's stable.. for now. While Tyler is at class, Shanonn's been practicing to be a professional housewife by keeping meals ready, cleaning house and simply finding places to put all of our "stuff" that we so lovingly packed.
Monday and Tuesday were pretty uneventful days, with Tyler in class all day and Shanonn unpacking. Wednesday night we had a meeting for the FRG (Family Readiness Group) that basically was just telling us what the group was about while we're here, how to contact "leaders" from the group, etc. It was overall a good meeting, just very long. About half-way through, the wives were separated from their husbands, so that the women could get to know each other, as would the men. In general, it was productive, but we just seem to be in a different place than most everyone else. We seem to be the only National Guard people, so we don't fit in with the seasoned pros or the newcomers either, but at least we have a support system available.

Thursday morning, Kahlua went to the vet to get her shots (luckily, they went well), soon Tyler was home for lunch for a short time, then it was back to work! Shanonn got all of the decorations organized and put near where they needed to be hung (a task later for Tyler to finish), then it was time for Kahlua's bath. Not long after, Tyler was home for the night! We both decided that dinner was going to be an eating-out adventure, so we headed into Enterprise to a small, local restaurant with some of the best barbeque and sides we've both had! After dinner, we came home, hung up some decorations, watched part of the Thunder game, then it was time for bed to do it all over again.
Today has been mildly boring- Tyler was in class all day, toured the Aviation museum on post, and finally got home at 5. Tonight we're headed to Dothan (the nearest big city) to have dinner, then maybe do a bit of window shopping. Tomorrow will hopefully be a great day because we're headed to the BEACH! More about that later though.
Thanks for keeping up with us!!

Luckily our living room doesn't look like this anymore..
Tyler and Shanonn Sharpehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00924491173515191720noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4317296644096965360.post-7962690860559875792011-05-17T20:33:00.001-05:002011-06-05T21:42:52.645-05:00My Life in BoxesWell Hello to All-
We are a little bit behind since we finally got Internet today. We will try to cover as much as possible about the past two weeks or so. We left Oklahoma City on May 9th with a loaded down Lexus, and a Dodge Ram that was definitely full pulling a U-haul trailer loaded to the max. We got everything packed in somehow though!! Except the box springs to our bed (but more about that later). We drove to Memphis on the first day and it was mostly an uneventful drive, since they decided to open Eastbound I-40 because most of the flooding had cleared. We stayed two days in Memphis with Shanonn's Aunt and Uncle and spent some time with her cousins and their two little girls. We had a great time seeing Beale Street, the super flooded Mississippi river and yes, we even went to see the King (Graceland of course!). We then drove to Birmingham and stayed one night before finally arriving at Fort Rucker on May 12th. Tyler signed in and started in-processing (a very disorganized process) and we looked at a house on post and decided to live in it. It's a 4 bedroom 1.5 bath house that is pretty nice (except for the 70's throwback bathrooms) and it has two storage sheds, which Tyler is excited about. We spent the first full day and weekend in-processing and unloading the trailer/unpacking. We had 4600 lbs of household goods! We also went to Dothan a couple times, since it's the nearest "big" city and got some essentials that we needed in order to get settled. Then, finally, on Saturday we went into Enterprise and bought the box springs for our bed! This was definitely an experience because we had to take the Lexus, so the box springs ended up being strapped to the top of the car. We're trying to fit in down here for sure. Monday Tyler started class and more in processing. Tuesday Tyler had a PT test and did more... you guessed it... in processing. Tomorrow he should start actual class. The house is coming along, still a little more unpacking to do and of course, decorations to hang. Kahlua is also doing well, she's found some doggie friends next door and likes the wooded area located behind the house.
So there's our first official update! Hopefully the ones from now on can be a bit more detailed and less lacking in the details. Watch for pictures- coming soon!!Tyler and Shanonn Sharpehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00924491173515191720noreply@blogger.com1
